Meeting Jessica in the library

You hurry back to the Faulkner building, grab your laptop and its charger, put it in your bag and run toward the library and Jessica's irresistible smile.

She was wearing a top again and you wonder if that girl ever covers her cute little belly button. Now, that is something really weird... so, a belly button is the connection someone has with their mother, right?

No one finds a man's belly button attractive, so why is it sexy on a girl? Is it because it sits right between the breasts and the mound? Is it because it's normally hidden?

Or is it a symptom? Is it just that girls who show their belly buttons tend to be sexier?

You walk toward the library, and think about that. They are not necessarily sexier, it's that they are more comfortable with their bodies which is something that turns you on.

Plus, they tend to have nice bodies too...

You don't have to search for the study room: you locate Jessica quickly, or rather, she locates you and waves her hand in the air.

After a little chitchat, you both go into the study room and you fail to see what's special about it until she points how that there are two electrical outlets instead of a single one!

That way, you can each plug in your laptops without having to run the wires across the room.

"Google doc?", she just says.

"What?

"With Google Doc, we can both edit the same document at the same time"

"Oh, let me load up one of my old lab reports. It's about boiling water, so we can just tweak it", you propose.

"Not a bad idea. Did you get a good grade on it?"

"I got a perfect score...", you say, blushing.

"Well, you want to write patents, isn't that like, lab reports?"

"No, but I see what you mean"

You load the document, make a copy, get Jessica's email address to invite her and within a few seconds, you are both looking at the same document even if you are sitting face to face with no visibility of each other's screens.

"I can work on the intro, but you have the sheet, can you type in the values?", you ask.

"Oh, sure"

You write a new paragraph presenting the experiment, reusing as much as you can and expanding on it.

When you are done, Jessica is still typing so you review the rest of the document, changing a few sentences, adding a few more. You see that Jessica is properly reusing and expanding your original chart.

It's when you reach the calculations that you realize that your plan of reusing an old document was brilliant: even if the conditions of the experiment are not the same, the calculations are more or less the same!

You make two or three changes to make it clearer and reformulate a few of the statements surrounding the calculations to talk about the fact that is a butane burner and not an electrical one like in high school.

By the time Jessica is done, you already had reformulate most of the document, including rephrasing the conclusion: the two assignments were not identical. Oddly enough, in high school, the assignment was more complicated!

As you are working, you get an email notification from Jessica, who invites you to a Google sheet page. You click on it and see that she pasted the values and is currently making graphs, tweaking them to perfection.

Without having said a single word, you enter regression calculations directly in her sheet and start crunching the numbers for calculating the heat output.

Twice Jessica, who is still working on the graph, makes a small correction to one of your numbers, but without saying anything.

You could be across the country and work as well with her as you are now!

Eventually, the charts are ported back to the main document by Jessica and soon after, you move the calculations, adding an explanation on how you did them.

You can hear Jessica type rather quickly, and soon enough, realize that she rewrote the conclusion to include the results of your calculations.

You scroll up and make a few corrections in the phrasing and at some point, you see her cursor move past you and edit a paragraph you hadn't touched yet.

It doesn't take long for you both to concentrate on reading the document, only occasionally fixing something.

Jessica is the one who breaks the silence.

"I think we have something exemplary. You had a great instinct, we only need to adjust your document, we didn't need to do everything from scratch", she says.

"And I love how we could build on each other, not having to constantly coordinate", you say.

"Indeed. It was a refreshing pace not to have to carry a dead weight around", she replies.

"Were you the type to do the group assignments on your own in high school?", you ask her.

"Oh my God, yes! It was so annoying..."

"Well, now we know what happens when two such people meet on a project. "

She laughs, such a cute restrained laugh.

"I am glad you are my lab partners", Jessica says, warmly.

"I am glad too."

An awkward silence installs itself.
