College Chastity Choice Game 2

Marina nervously puts the little card "Back in an hour" on the window of her office. The session is covered by the employee help program, so why does she feel guilty abandoning her post?

She knows why. It's part of why she needs that therapy session. It's not why she is going today, but it's why she began consulting.

Marina is young. She knows that. She has an important job, she knows that too. What she isn't sure, is that she deserves that job.

Locking the door to her office, she nervously walks the corridor, as if everyone knew where she was going. Twice a week, at the same time.... must be therapy, right? There is no other explanation possible.

Marina is an impostor, and should be fired. No, she says. That's the old Marina. Not the new one.

She sighs. Lost in her thoughts, she jumps when Ginger wishes her a good day, all happy.

"Have a good day too"

The two of them talk sometimes. Marina wouldn't see Ginger as a friend, but she is friendly.

The college is mostly closed in the summer. There are summer classes, but the administration building is usually closed.

Ginger, is an admission officer. Most of her work is done in the spring, when most of the students get their answer to their admission request.

But not all of the work. Admission officers also handle initial transfers. When a student get accepted in a program, and upon arriving at the college, hope to get into another one. Often, it's because they requested admission into a "safe" program to get into, but got great grades in their senior final exams or did extra work in the summer after high school so they hope to transfer to a more restricted or exclusive program.

You would think there was no chance in hell, but the problem is that good students make a lot of admission requests and as such, many keep this college as a backup. Sometimes, they get accepted to a preferred college just in mid or even late August and a spot opens.

But this is also why Ginger, gets a shorter vacation. She doesn't mind. It's most money for her, but if it's more money for her, someone needs to supervise that she is indeed working, needs to approve sick days, must "sign" her electronic paycheck and that, is Marina's job.

Oh, she isn't anyone's supervisor. She doesn't hire or fire anyone. She is an administrative assistant. In the theory, she has all of the responsibilities and none of the official power. In practice, if Marina went into the dean's office and asked for permission to let go of Ginger, she would be fired within the hour.

But Ginger is a good employee, thinks Marina as she walks by the housing supervisor's office. She sighs. Nina is a good employee. She knows her job, no one ever complains about her lack of efficiency. Students seem to love her and see her as an essential employee.

And yet... Nina spends her time away from her office. Officially, she "tours the campus", but something is going on and the only reasons Marina hasn't done anything about it, is because everyone, even the dean, loves Nina and how efficient she is.

Stefan, Marina's husband, once told her. "Nina often pulls overtime to help students, who cares if sometimes she takes an hour or two off. She either still works 40 hours or does more than the equivalent of 40 hours of work.

That put Marina a little more at ease. Because if that was true, maybe she doesn't need to feel guilty from seeing a therapist for 2 of her 40 hours.

Because in the end, that's what Nina's situation is about. If Nina can still do her job in a little less than 40 hours, perhaps Marina can too?

The difference, is that the employee help program is college sanctioned, and Nina doesn't use it. Why does Marina know that? Because she is the one approving time off for the program.

Marina looks at the time. She is in front of the little office, in Faulkner. It's 9h58. She is two minutes early, but the door is partially open.

She knocks gently on the door, and it opens a little more.

"Come in", says her therapist.

Marina gets in.
