Life is fucking bullshit.

There is no fucking way around it, it is. Perhaps not for everyone, but certainly for me.

I had a great childhood. I grew up with my best friend, my identical twin sister Kayla, and we were like peas in a pod.

We dressed the same, had the same haircut, had the same tastes, the same friends and even almost the same grades.

We shared everything and not spending every waking moment together was unthinkable.

Fuck, we took our baths or shower together, washing each other as if it was 100% normal. Our parents said nothing, and then they said nothing about the fact that we slept in the same bed.

One morning, one of us had her periods. It was Kayla, but it didn't matter, it's like the first bolt that was securing our shared live had popped.

I had my breasts first, but Kayla followed days later. That she got her first period didn't freak us out, especially since I got mine two days later.

Teenage years were a little harder, however, as we developed interests which didn't quite match up.

When Kayla had her first lesbian kiss, she told me. We talked about it for hours. She wasn't gay, she still isn't, but unlike me, she isn't quite straight.

Did it bother us? Nope. Not at all. Neither that we didn't have the same tastes in boys. Granted, Kayla mostly preferred girls, but the boys she did like were nothing like those I fancied.

They were bad boys, and I preferred gentlemen, like Scott, my long-term boyfriend.

Kayla did have boyfriends, sometimes for months! But not girlfriends. She had sex with them, but that was it.

Now, here is the one weird thing. We still mostly slept in the same bed, even then, and still took our showers or bathtub together.

It simply didn't occur to us, even when we were 18, to do those two very private activities alone.

It doesn't mean we always did, but when we could, we did.

But then, we came to college and everything crashed down, and my life turned to shit.

We asked for a common room, in Campbell, so that Scott could be with us, in the next door.

Campbell is a co-ed residence, one of many, but unlike Faulkner or some others, Campbell allows for making choices for rooms.

It may seem stupid, but if you want to be next door to your boyfriend, Campbell is the place to be.

What's tragic, is that most of the people who get to Campbell, don't even choose Campbell and thus, do not choose their room.

To get to Campbell, you need to win the Lottery. Literally.

So, Faulkner, my dorm building, is the massive tower for about 1000 students. Campbell, on the other hand, only has 24 rooms or 48 students.

There are 7 of those 48 student dorms, supplying 336 beds above and beyond those 1000 in Faulkner. Granted, one of those seven is reserved for naturists, but they too need to win the lottery.

So, to get one of those 336 spots, whether you are a naturist or not, you need to either be a foreign student and request one of the rooms, or to participate in a drawing to get assigned one of the rooms.

If you are a naturist, you can be assigned to any of the 336 rooms, but the first 48 naturists drawn get priority for Stanley. If there aren't enough naturists, they pull out the naturist ballots and draw from them to fill the 48.

For non naturists, that leaves only 288 beds.

You'll see soon why I care, but let's go back to the general lottery. Forty-two foreign students got placed into the 228 slots. I do not have the information on how many of those 42 were placed in Stanley, but I know of one foreign naturist who was in those 42, but didn't get into Stanley, Helga.

Anyway, in theory, that left 246 beds, right?

Well, wrong. Since once you are in one of the dorms, you keep your right for the 4 fours of your studies, so only a few spots open for freshmen.

In my year, it was 68 beds, with over 800 names in the lottery: not just freshmen, but also students in Faulkner or in Baxter, the medium dorm I'm not very knowledgeable about.

Kayla was drawn, Scott and I weren't.

That was the start of my break-up with Kayla. She insisted on staying in Campbell, despite the awfully slow elevator, which meant I was stuck in Faulkner.

As fate would have it, Scott ended up in the room next to mine. Granted, he wasn't initially, but we were in the same section and he trade rooms with Tyler so he would be next to me.

As luck turns out, Jackson, Scott's initial roommate, became a close friend to Tyler, and Graham, who was Tyler's original roommate became a good friend of us.

Granted, it might have worked otherwise, but who cares. Everyone was happy.

My roommate, Maxine, got herself an off campus girlfriend and often slept over, allowing Scott and I to have our own sleepovers.

I replaced sleeping with my sister, with sleeping with my boyfriend. Much nicer...
