"Cat?", I ask, as she is next to me, furiously typing on her Chromebook.

I had found it odd that she would get such a limited device, but like she told me. "I write in Google Doc anyway, so what else so I need? I am not a gamer, all I do is write and research, and this little laptop computer has 11 to 12 hours of battery per day"

I admit, I was intrigued. I don't know what I would do with one, but then again, I am reading on our Kindle Oasis, which is an even more limited device, and we ended up paying roughly the same amount!

Of course, the Kindle is waterproof and it's a test device for Catalyna, and we both like to read in the bathtub. I know, it's weird, but it is what it is.

"What's up?", she says, happy

"I don't want to make you lose your inspiration"

"No, it's fine, I am editing, I finished writing about 10 minutes ago. I can stop if you need me"

"Well, Bill..."

"Wait, you are reading Bill and Anna? It's not even completed. I don't even have a title yet"

"It's not completed? Oh, why is it in the Kindle?"

"I had to send a sample to the publisher, and I wanted to test it."

"Oh, but Bill is in chastity?"

"Their idea. They want me to write more kinky books and they wanted this story, specifically"

"Ah, so you didn't pick this subject?"

"Nope. Up to where did you make it?"

"He just revealed the chastity belt he is wearing"

"Ah, right. It goes a little further. They make it as a couple, but she never unlocks it"

"Never?"

"It's their requirement. I have no idea how realistic it is, but I mean, one of my protagonists has sex with a demon, so does it really matter?"

"Right. You've been writing more and more kinky books?"

"They sell"

"No, I know that. And I am not complaining. The Sexy knots series is wild"

"Of course you would say that", she says, laughing.

"What do you mean?"

"Samantha loves to be bound in ropes and to have random people use her sexually.", she says, with a smile. She turns her head and her hair moves so sexily.

I look down a little, and get grabbed by her satin cleavage which covers her breasts, but is loose enough that when she wears it, I get occasional peeks.

"Well, yeah.", I admit.

She sighs. "Which one is your favorite?", trying to keep the subject on it. I know it's what she is doing.

"The first has the best story, I think, but the second has the next sex scenes, though the third one has a good balance of the two"

"Well, it has her marriage, and her divorce"

"He was a douche"

"He really was", says Cat, laughing.

"Why put him in then?"

"Samantha shows terrible decision-making in all of the books. In the next one, she will be fall in with a criminal gang"

"Right, you told me that", I say. She hasn't finished the outline of that one.

"I know you don't want to have sex often, like only once in a while, but why can't we put some kink in our life?"

"Not this again. We had a good evening. Can't you just follow my pace? You know what my deal was"

"I did, but you now write erotic novels"

"Not by choice"

"Really?"

"Fred, I am very romantic, in the sense of opposite of aromantic. I decided to write romance novels, and I made enough money selling them to survive, especially with your salary, but I have enough pride to want to at least pay my own things and part of the mortgage"

"And you do"

"And I do. But romance books will only take me so far, and I didn't know that when I started. So, they wanted me to write more risqué books, and when I did, they told better"

"They did"

"So, I wrote more. I mean, if I make more money for basically the same amount of work, I would be stupid not to exploit that market, right?"

"Right", I say. We had multiple talks about it, notably about the fact that we aren't very sexual. She wanted to know if I wanted her to stop, but I don't. I want her to be more sexual and stupidly, I thought that perhaps, we would have sex more often. It didn't work.

"But then, they wanted some kink, and it sold even better. So I created yet another pen name and began series, like Sexy knots"

"Which is now under your name"

"No, it's still under Susan Jacobin, but I came out as Susan Jacobin. The 4th will have her name, not mine"

"But everyone knows it's you"

"And most people suspect I am also Eliza Granger"

"Well, you have a special style"

"My publisher wants to a cross promotional event"

"Wait, do they like my idea?"

"About Mrs Lopez?"

"Yeah?"

"They love it. That Mrs Lopez from the Eliza's books is Mrs Clark from the Jacobin books after her marriage was genius."

"See. I told you. They are basically the same character, but with small nuances"

"They want me to write her in the future with the idea that they are the same character"

"So, why no kink between us?"

She sighs. She never explained. Mrs Lopez is now a BDSM icon in the literature world. She has her own section of fan art on Deviant Art, and a whole Reddit dedicated to her and her rules. She was portrayed on the cover of two of the books, her own and the Submission of Lady Hillary, where she is shown whipping the titular character.

The images took some liberty from the descriptions written by Catalyna, but in future appearances of the character, her monocle, her top hat and her third glove were added to the story.

Mrs Clark, however, was never illustrated or described physically, more like how she acts.

Most of the fans for Mrs Lopez didn't make the connection, as Mrs Clark doesn't have the same level of protocol, and to be honest, she was written first.

For the story to make sense, however, since Mrs Clark is older than Mrs Lopez, the Jacobin books would need to be sequels, which would in reality make the Eliza books a prequel, since they were written later.

That evening, Catalyna and I had spent the evening basically listing all of her characters from the various series or pen name to make other cross-overs.

But her characters are too unique from one another. The men, not so much, but people don't care about most of her men. It's her women who strike the imagination.

Female readers want to be them, or their best friend, men would like to have sex with them. Sure, the men inspire the women, which is the goal, but they are there mostly to fuel the reader's imagination.

"Because kink is sex. I mean, not really, but look at my books. All kink scenes are sexual. I mean, each time we have sex, you and I, I feel sick for days because I get confused between my love for you and my sex images. I can't explain it, it's like... it breaks my heart to tarnish our love or something"

"Tarnish our love. It amplifies it.", I say

"For you"

"Are you saying it would be easier for you to have sex with others, than with me?"

"No, but it might be less difficult"

"Less difficult, easier. Same shit", I say, a little angry.

She puts her Chromebook aside, steps out of the bed, and stand next to it.

"What are you doing?"

"If this is going to be a fight, I don't want to do it in bed"

"A fight?", you ask, confused.
